DIY CAKE FLAGS!

When I first saw these I thought, "Oh, how cute!". I don't really consider myself the do it yourself type so I didn't think I would be able to pull these off for my wedding. One lovely lady on Project Wedding gave me just enough convincing to get me to try this for myself. These were incredibly easy to make. It took me about 3 hours to complete 200 cake flags.

Luckily my fiance had mashed potatoes for dinner tonight so I was able to try out the completed product.

Materials:
-200 toothpicks
-7 sheets of 30 each address labels
-Microsoft word label template
-engagement pictures

I've been trying to find a use for our engagement pictures and this turned out to be the perfect oportunity.

Much Needed Break!

For any of you that follow my blog, I'm sorry! I needed a break. We have all been affected in some way by the downturn in the economy and I'm sad to say that it has had an impact on my life. However, for anyone planning their dream wedding during this time there is hope! So, while I have been focusing a lot of my energy on my job 2 things have happened.

First, my dear fiance has taken over some of the wedding planning. In the past month he: booked our honeymoon, ordered our favors, and booked transportation for the wedding party and our guests! He gets an A++ and a gold star. I'm ever more grateful to him and looking forward to our wedding like never before.

Second, I have embarked on a few Do It Yourself projects. I plan on posting the first one tonight! It is very simple and anyone can do it, I promise! While I am creative I've never considered myself the DIY type bride but it just shows what lengths we are willing to go through to get through the tough times and pull out on top.

I'll be back in a few hours to post the results of my cake flags!

REAL WEDDING: Becky and Matt

Here is a preview of what is coming in the next few days. This fabulous collage was sent to me by Rae Barnes, one of my all time favorite photographers. I wanted to book her for my wedding but she books up so far in advance that she was unavailable for my date. I am so excited that she shared these photos with me. The couples laid back attitude combined with impeccable rustic style resembles everything I hope to portray with this blog. Enjoy!

Pockets Please!

Anyone that knows me well is fully aware that I love POCKETS in my dresses. I litteraly look for them when shopping for dresses. There is just something so relaxed and cool about having a place to put your hands in your clothing. That is why I love the line THREAD Bridesmaids. Based out of NYC, THREAD, has multiple lines including bridal and social. I happen to own a few of the THREAD Social line dresses. Here are a few from the Bridesmaid line that I love including many with pockets.
